Another Wish to Writers: Happy Writing!

Standard

I have wished this thought before, but I want to offer it again to writers everywhere.

I simply wanted to wish all writers a good writing day–today and always.  I also hope you will have excellent production on whatever project you are tackling.

Never doubt your abilities, and work on getting your first drafts done. They will not be perfect, but you will then have material to revise.

Remember to try to write every day and read everyday.

Also remember to value your abilities, your vision, and your writing.

Happy Writing!

A First Draft Finished!

I have finally completed the first draft of Gallows Hill: The Investigative Paranormal Society Book 2.  It is certainly not close to being ready to be put out into the world, but this step was essential.

I also have a plan of action for the revisions, which is something I did not have in my first book. I simply rewrote and made changes both major and minor as I went along. I hope with my focused revision process, I can lower significantly the number of drafts I will need. I am also hoping that I can still have this book out in time for Halloween! We will see.

On to draft 2!

Writing Progess: An Update

Standard

wp-1476386546701-maledicus

It has been a long time since I have done a post about my writing progress, so I thought I would mention what I am doing. I self-published Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book I last October. Since then, I completed what I hope is a very good draft  — draft 4 — of my YA novel, The Ameriad: The Monastery of Knowledge, which I am in the process of submitting to agents and editors.

I am close to being done with draft 1 of Gallow’s Hill: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book II. My goal is to have the initial draft done this coming week, and then I will do heavily focused revisions, one after another over the next couple of months.  I hope to release it in October.

I also should be able to release a Spanish language version of Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book I  in October. And I am looking into an audible edition.

When I am done with these projects, then I will work on one of two books I have already drafted and need revisions. Plus, I have many other tales waiting their turns to be written.

I am very excited to say that my horror novel, Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society Book I  is now in the humanities library, Linderman Library, at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA! This is something for which I am very grateful and deeply satisfied. I have been connected to Lehigh University for many years; I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in English Literature at this school, and now I teach there as an adjunct professor.

The Travels of Maledicus: Part I

Standard

Beginning with this post, I will occasionally show photographs of my book Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society Book I as it travels to various locales.

These were taken on a ferry from Staten Island to Manhattan during a recent excursion my wife and I took  into the city. I love traveling on the ferry, which is still free! Actually, I love riding on any kind of boat or ship, so this part of the trip, no matter the weather is always exciting for me.

This one was taken as the ferry was departing from its slip in the Staten Island Terminal.
