Hello to all writers!

What is your current WIP–your Work In Progres?  I am currently working on a first draft of book 3 in my Investigative Paranormal Society series, and I am revising — a 5th draft — of a fantasy novel, and a 2nd draft of a political thriller.

Please let us know what you are working on.

And remember, there is magic in words!

Keep writing!

To all the writers out there, whoever you are and wherever you may be, please remember to value yourselves, to respect your efforts, and to keep on writing.

Also please remember, writing comes from dedication and consistency and not from waiting for inspiration.

Another Wish to Writers: Happy Writing!

I have wished this thought before, but I want to offer it again to writers everywhere.

I simply wanted to wish all writers a good writing day–today and always.  I also hope you will have excellent production on whatever project you are tackling.

Never doubt your abilities, and work on getting your first drafts done. They will not be perfect, but you will then have material to revise.

Remember to try to write every day and read everyday.

Also remember to value your abilities, your vision, and your writing.

Happy Writing!

Update on Writing Progress

Standard

I have not recently given an update on my writing progress, so I think I should do so now.  I am working on the final draft of Gallows Hill: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book 2. I hope to have this novel completed within two weeks. Then the process of formatting the book and continuing the marketing will begin.  My goal is to have this book out in late January or early February.

Like the first in this series, Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book 1, this is a horror novel, dealing with both supernatural and very human concerns. For those of you who read the first book, one of the questions left unanswered was why Sam’s son killed himself. That question is answered in Gallow’s Hill.

I will write more about this book in upcoming posts.

Here is an advanced look at the cover.

Stephen King on Revision

“To write is human, to edit is divine.”

“When you write a book, you spend day after day scanning and identifying the trees. When you’re done, you have to step back and look at the forest.”

“Your job during or just after the first draft is to decide what something or somethings yours is about. Your job in the second draft— one of them, anyway—is to make that something even more clear. This may necessitate some big changes and revisions. The benefits to you and your reader will be clearer focus and a more unified story. It hardly ever fails.”

A First Draft Finished!

I have finally completed the first draft of Gallows Hill: The Investigative Paranormal Society Book 2.  It is certainly not close to being ready to be put out into the world, but this step was essential.

I also have a plan of action for the revisions, which is something I did not have in my first book. I simply rewrote and made changes both major and minor as I went along. I hope with my focused revision process, I can lower significantly the number of drafts I will need. I am also hoping that I can still have this book out in time for Halloween! We will see.

On to draft 2!

Writing Progess: An Update

Standard

wp-1476386546701-maledicus

It has been a long time since I have done a post about my writing progress, so I thought I would mention what I am doing. I self-published Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book I last October. Since then, I completed what I hope is a very good draft  — draft 4 — of my YA novel, The Ameriad: The Monastery of Knowledge, which I am in the process of submitting to agents and editors.

I am close to being done with draft 1 of Gallow’s Hill: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book II. My goal is to have the initial draft done this coming week, and then I will do heavily focused revisions, one after another over the next couple of months.  I hope to release it in October.

I also should be able to release a Spanish language version of Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book I  in October. And I am looking into an audible edition.

When I am done with these projects, then I will work on one of two books I have already drafted and need revisions. Plus, I have many other tales waiting their turns to be written.
