  1. Very apt quotes for our time! Based on changes I’ve seen in nontraditional higher education the last ten years or so, I would qualify the second quote by saying, “The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is a liberal arts education.”

  2. Yuppers – I find myself STILL stifling the urge to yell out, during some interactions, “For the love of all that is holy! Read/Research! Just because folks say it loud/proud/double down over and over, doesn’t, in the end, make it true” – sigh – But, yelling never accomplishes anything, really – person to person – thus, I sometimes come home from community gatherings where various snippets of conversation reach my ears or are blasted into my face – and think, “Okay – what, if anything, can be said to those who have no wish to listen? Where is the bridge? Where is the incommon factor to build a better foundation upon?” – Thus, I find myself every damn day thinking, reading, researching more, just to try to figure it out –
