February Self-Promotion Party!

Hello to everyone! We are making our way towards the end of winter, and I thought it would be a good time to share what you have been writing and what you have written. I want once again to offer an opportunity for all writers who follow this blog to share information on their books. It can be very difficult to generate publicity for our writing, so I thought this little effort might help. All books may be mentioned, and there is no restriction on genre. This includes poetry and non-fiction.

To participate, simply give your name, your book, information about it, and where to purchase it in the comments section. Then please be willing to reblog and/or tweet this post. The more people that see it, the more publicity we can generate for everyone’s books.

Thank you for participating!

Keep on writing!

Celebrate and promote your writing! Shout it out to the world! Let everyone know about your work!

Feel free to promote a new or an older book!

I hope this idea is successful, and I hope many people share information on their books!

I will continue to have this party every few weeks.

  1. Thanks, Charles! I’ve written a young adult epic fantasy novel titled Mystical Greenwood–it has magic, adventure, good vs. evil, forests, gryphons, dragons, unicorns, and a strong emphasis on the sacredness of Nature! In addition, my poetry, short stories, and essays have appeared in several anthologies and literary journals–these include stories about a monster shark, as well as a poem written in the style of The Raven, and an essay about my experiences having Asperger syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. All are on Goodreads and Amazon and available in paperback. Some are also available in large print, Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, Nook , and pdf! Browse through all from there on my site: http://andrewmcdowellauthor.com/publications/

  3. Dear Charles, Thank you for your generous offer. My first two. factual, books were published by a mainstream publisher in London (Kogan Page.Ltd) in 1984 and both sold well, with one reprinted and excellent royalties, etc. I then had a break and ran a poetry group, wrote a few short stories (included in various anthologies), brought up three sons, and ran a business. Fast forward to 2000 and retirement in Spain, and I wrote several more books and won an International short Story Competition; became a book judge for a while, and ran a small writing group for The University of the Third Age in Torrevieja, Spain. My first and only novel, The Catalyst, sadly almost fell by the wayside as – at the same time as it was published – there were five other books with a similar title (Amazon and Kindle). The main story is based on the truth of the London terrorist, trains and bus bombings in 2005, mine in East London. Most of the locations are actual while the protagonists are fictional. The story-line is simple: man saves woman – both injured in the attack – but they are separated in the mayhem, as there was such massive confusion on that terrible day in July. Will they ever meet again? The rest of the story covers the male character’s search for the woman he saved, the value of family, hope, and, not least, humour. Shall I attach the one page ‘Foreword’ as a taster?
Much appreciated., Charles. Many thanks. Sincerely Joy Lennick

  5. Since it’s close to Valentine’s Day, how about a romcom? In Turning 30, a woman moves into her parents home in her old hometown after losing her job in the big city. While there, she runs into an old friend who is NOT handling a break up well! She enlists her old group of buddies to help cheer him up before he turns 30, and while doing so, they discover issues of their own before hitting the big 3-0!

  6. Thanks Charles, I’ll re-blog for you. Here’s details of my latest short story, ‘A Long Sleep’: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QMJSPS
Connie Parrish has lovingly cared for her disabled son Kieran for 23 years. Kieran remains in a vegetative state, unable to communicate with his mother or his estranged father. When by chance Connie meets spiritualist healer Mike Duvale, Mike is convinced that he could help Kieran. However, Connie doubts that spiritual healing could work after Kieran had already failed to respond to years of conventional medical treatments. As far as she is concerned, miracles simply do not happen.

  7. Thanks, Charles! I’ve been working on two writing projects. One is a 120,000 urban fantasy, which is currently being shared with my critique group. The second is my 7th Casey Holland mystery, which just finished a round with beta readers. I hope to release it this year, but real life has a way of throwing up obstacles 🙂 Meanwhile, my 4th Casey Holland mystery, The Deep End is currently onsale for $.99. This book draws on my volunteer experiences at a youth detention center, back when I was studying criminology. Here’s a short blurb:

Casey’s 1st week of volunteering at a youth detention centre turns deadly when the director dies from heart failure. But all is not as it seems, as life for the residents & Casey becomes perilous.
