Quotations on Bigotry

“What a sad era when it is easier to smash an atom than a prejudice.”

Albert Einstein

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background or his religion. People learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

                                                                 Nelson Mandela

“There should be no discrimination against languages people speak, skin color, or religion.”

                                                                         Malala Yousafzai

“Bigotry of all kinds is intolerable, unjustifiable, and immoral. We, as human beings, must always be willing to stand up against any kind of bigotry.”

                                                                       Charles F. French

  1. All so very true. So, why is it so very hard for people to just accept all people as they are? Why is hatred and bigotry in all its forms increasing in the U.S. Have we learned NOTHING in nearly 300 years? Has the human species learned nothing in thousands of years? 😥

  2. I am still in a deep ‘pondering’ on this – as I have been for so much of my adult life, searching for the ‘what is the bottom, root, way of looking at/understanding/seeing where such things go wrong – over and over. At this point? I’m currently at the point of ‘power tends to corrupt, absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely’ and that over time, many in power have risen to power or stayed in power through the very easy method of dehumanizing/scapegoating others – and promising to their ‘preferred’ crowd their lot in life would be much better, if only…..’ and how, as an individual, hardwired to crave the security and acceptance of a ‘tribe’ to blend with, it is ALSO my job to beware joining any tribe that engages in ‘dehumanizing/scapegoating’ others – en masse – – Tough road to walk even in daily purchasing/voting/discussions with my small circle – ! 🙂
