“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
Albert Einstein
“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”
Dalai Lama
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
Aesop
All of the quotes resonate with me, but I think Aesop’s is the one with the most potential to make a difference.

Wonderful post and collection of quotes, Charles French.
Yours is one of my favourite along with Aesop.
With such a bunch you are spoilt for choice.

Apologizing is not a sign of weakness, Choosing to be vulnerable is not a sign of weakness, being kind and tolerant to another as you try to underestand life as they have come to understand, is not a sign of weakness – – standing for the few things you have decided, overall, are important for the greater majority of living things, though it might mean your death? Even though no one is listening or agrees on the details? Courage – says I and so many things lauded in so many ways, over and over, are still, in every day life seen as ‘weakness’ or ‘low-self-esteem’ by those who are courageous as long as they don’t have to lay their own life on the line or do without what they think everyone else should be doing/making a stand on – Sigh – tolerance, compassion and true courage, is, overall to me, in rather short supply nowadays – but that’s just me….
