“If you don’t know history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree. ”
Michael Crichton
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”
Carl Sagan
“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
George Santayana
Our leaders’ knowledge of history? It has been weighed in the balance and found wanting.

Excellent quotes, Charles. Knowledge of history is vital to understanding, but it needs to be all encompassing and not selective.

Robbie, thank you! And knowledge must be expansive and ever growing.

From the beginning, I was ordered to never question my parents, teachers…
Being the black sheep I took the unacceptable, but for me necessary, path and questioned everything and found solace and much more in books.

I couldn’t agree more, Charles. Otherwise we are doomed to constantly repeating the same mistakes! All our politicians should HAVE to have a knowledge of History in my opinion…

Yes, it should be a requirement.

Enjoyed your quotes! I’m a student of American history, but have to say I don’t recognize our country under its current leadership. November can’t come soon enough 😊
