“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”
Theodore Roosevelt
“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.”
Mahatma Gandhi
These are all still applicable. I’m scared to see the end result of the ignorance.

Good quotes and very relevant. I hadn’t seen the Roosevelt one before. This line is very colorful :”Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.” This is another one you might like: ” When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when to breathe the air is sickening, you will realize, too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that you can’t eat money.” by Alanis Obomsawin, an Abenaki (a Native American tribe) She is a documentarist.

Very eloquently put! The Aebnaki are the indigenous people in my area (northern New England). I just looked up Obomsawin and learned that she was born in New Hampshire. I’ve bookmarked one of her documentaries to watch. (Hopefully, one of my streaming services will carry it–if not the one I chose, perhaps another one.)

Small world that it turned out Aebnaki are indigenous to your area. I hope your steaming service does carry it. I haven’t seen any either and am curious what she films about

Great post, Charles. The politicization of environmental issues is catastrophic and stupid: we all rely on the natural world to survive and thrive, so there’s no excuse for the current partisan divides.
