Teargassing of families and children–the stuff of fascism.

The Trump administration has ordered and defended the use of tear gas against families, against mothers, against children, and against babies. This is beyond reprehensible–it is evil, and it is the stuff of fascism, racism, and bigotry.

We must never become used to such abominable behavior. All of those who oppose these actions must speak out.

This must end.

Remember that we are all connected.

“No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend’s
Or of thine own were:
Any man’s death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee”

John Donne

What is worse than the state shooting its citizenry and claiming cowardice as legal justification. What is worse than the state tearing apart families of those that come here with hope of life and gassing the defensless who rush to our crossed arms? I’d say what could be worse would be our acceptance of it, our silence, our turning away. We are no longer used to a voice of reason to turn to. Thank you for being one. I served our country in three wars and not one day of my service was dedicated to what we have become.

  2. We should not care about the gender or the age of immigrants, nor their race, religion or country of origin. The fact that after all we do, they still see this country as worthy of their future and investment of labor is the highest of compliments. Maybe some people should just build walls around themselves and leave the border alone. Reform is the answer; and nothing says fear and vulnerability like razor wire.

  3. I’m a lot worried about living in a country where at least half of it thinks this is a good idea and condone it. Flat scares the stuffings out of me and nothing you say penetrates those thick skulls. What’s it going to take to turn this around? We have Senators who think it’s a good idea to sit up front for a public hanging??? What has happened to us?

  4. I presume that you were just as upset when this was done during the Obama administration? I can’t say I’m a fan of using tear gas at the border, but the selective outrage at thing that both the Trump and Obama administrations did is getting old.
