The Underground Library Society: Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire Poster

Here is another blog post from one of my students.

Sam Steinberg's Blog

Along with the rest of my English 02 class at Lehigh University, I have entered the Underground Library Society.  This group is based on the “Book People,” in Fahrenheit 451, who make it their mission to memorize and literally become a book so that the rest of mankind can benefit from their knowledge.  The first task of the group is to design a poster consisting of our group name/logo, the title the book we chose, a statement of encouragement to read our book, and an appealing design.  I have chosen to present Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  I chose this book as it is a mystery/fantasy and opens people’s eyes to another world and its possibilities.  Personally, I think it’d be pretty cool to run through walls and find something missing with the flick of a wand.  I plan on designing my poster with a cool portrayal of…

Interview With Sam Sadlowski

Hello everyone! Today I am interviewing Mr. Sam Sadlowski, a retired homicide detective, art lover, and the protagonist in Gallows Hill: The Investigative Paranormal Society, Book 2 by Charles F. French.

Thank you very much for this interview, Mr. Sadlowski.

Sam: You’re welcome, and please, call me Sam. You can probably tell I’m not a very formal sort of guy.

Certainly. Would you like anything to drink? Coffee?

Sam: That would be fine. I take it black, and thanks.

You’re welcome. So, I heard you’re a fan of art… Would you mind if I asked you some questions about that?

Sam: Certainly.

How long have you been interested in art?

Sam: Well, pretty much, all my life. I was always taken with looking at paintings, and when I was in High School, I realized that I loved art. I enjoyed looking at any kind of…

Saving Literature One Book at a Time.

This is another excellent blog post from my English 2 class at Lehigh University.

Hi all!

I would like to inform my readers about my recent entry into a secret society known as The Underground Library Society. For all of those out there that consider books as important as I do, maybe you should consider becoming a member too. There are a few criteria to join.

  1. You must love and cherish books
  2. You must memorize one book to share with the rest of the members

The society helps to prevent the complete banning of books from ever happening; from us ever reaching the point that the world is at in Fahrenheit 451. If this is your worst nightmare, come join me in keeping the magic of books alive. The book that I have chosen to share with the ULS is one that made me fall in love with reading; Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is a timeless classic that focuses on the Bennet…

CALLING ALL MY FOLLOWERS WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES BOOK LOVERS!

I am writing to explain to you an amazing secretive society that I have just recently become a member of… The Underground Library Society! The Underground Library Society’s main goal is to incentivize people to read more books by putting up posters made by hand shouting out a book they want to “save”. The ULS is an in class project my fellow students and I are working on together.

Our class is creating these posters that have the ULS name, a logo, the book we are “saving”, and a small quote or excerpt from the novel. I chose to do mine on Q & A by Vikas Swarup. I chose this novel due to its intriguing title and concept of a 10 question game show, but also because I believe the underlying message and descriptions of the poverty stricken areas of…

Hello to all my fellow writers out there! Here is a chance to share one of your earlier books that you have written. Don’t worry if you have written one book–you may promote that one also!

Publicity can be very hard to come by, so I believe writers should always help each other.  If you wish to participate, please leave your book and information about where to purchase it and links to your blog or website.

There is no requirement to reblog this post, but if you do, I deeply appreciate it.

So, stop by, and enjoy blowing your horn about one of your earlier books.

I will do more of these parties; the next will be about current books.
