This is an excellent post that needs to be read about Memorial Day.

Today is Monday and a national holiday here in the United States.  We celebrate Memorial Day today to honor those that have died while in service fighting in any war.

But as usual, with most holidays, we decide to celebrate it for something else.  Memorial Day is now celebrated as the unofficial start of summer, picnics and camping season.

  1. Good post and tribute.

    As an Educator I was aware of the history behind Memorial Day. Many people confuse it with Veteran’s Day believing it honors all men and women who served in the military rather than it honoring only those who died while in service to their country during any war.
