Have you written today?

Have you done some writing today? Did you put pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard and cranked out so many words? Remember not to worry about New Year’s resolutions–they often fail. Simply try to develop a discipline about the craft of writing, and never wait for inspiration. It is the act of writing that creates more writing.

Remember, your writing opens yourself and your readers to the worlds of your imaginations, and that is a true blessing.

Thank you for this, Charles: “Simply try to develop a discipline about the craft of writing, and never wait for inspiration. It is the act of writing that creates more writing.” I saved that to my writing quotes notebook.

On a different note, will your book be coming out on Barnes & Nobel as an ebook? (Pardon me if I asked you this before…)

  2. Hi CF – Happy New Year. May I add something to your excellent advice. Before crunching keys or scribbling on paper. Take just 15 minutes to read a few passages from your favorite writers. It puts the brain in motion and inspires – try it you’ll like it.

  3. The only writing I’m getting done is my nightly journal and gratitude journal. Of course there are lots of comments to be thoughtfully placed until the chaos here translates to fodder for the next blog post.

  4. I have heard other fiction writers do the same. I usually jot notes here and there when the words come to me, however I find I must becconnected to the work in some way to write it.

Perhaps in time, I will develop a writing routine. Thank you for the insight.
